Name: | Pirate with a scarf |
---|
Character: The pirate with a scarf or “Number Two” if you’re the Pirate Captain
Series: The Pirates! Band of Misfits/ In an Adventure with Scientists
Version: post-Movie
Age: Judging by his appearance, mid-to-late-twenties
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Being a pirate he never put too much thought into that. So straight but not very interested.
Appearance: Number Two is of average height and is really thin, just a couple levels above “stick” and has a posture like one. His light brown hair is a tad messy and pulled back into a ponytail. His eyes are dark blue and his nose is almost as long as his neck. Despite being a pirate for many years of his life he has no noticeable scars to speak of, physically, at least.
His normal outfit consists of a blue Victorian suit with obvious wear and occasionally carries a sword with him. There are two belts that he wears: on around his waist and one that goes around his shoulder. He wears a matching tricorne hat and a gold earring on his right ear. On his feat he wearsears black shoes with belt buckles on them and black and white striped socks. Though even if he’s in disguise, he always wears a red scarf, after all without it he’d just be “the pirate” and no one wants to be called that.
Personality: The pirate with a scarf has been described as “the real brains in the operation” for good reason. He’s usually the first person in his crew to realize that something’s wrong and when his crew doesn’t believe him, instead of trying to force them to believe him, he insteads prepares to protect them.
He is unusually polite for a pirate while still keeping most values of actually being a pirate. He never even openly insults people unless they've been complete jerks to them and even then he doesn’t act verbally or physically violent towards them. Usually he’ll instead attempt to comfort the crew members who were affected by said jerkiness. The only time he ever fights people if when they’re attacking him or his crew (or when a hostage becomes too annoying). Which does include when he’s plundering. However, if it comes to the point where they have to kill them, while he rarely kills them himself, he never complains about it.
He has a strong loyalty to his crew members and treats them like his own family. He is always willing to help out his crew if need be, from something as little as helping prepare dinner to as big taking over for the captain. On the other hand, he won't blindly follow someone if they're doing something bad (in terms of piracy, that is) and is very quick to stand his ground on what he believes in. He usually gets ignored, but it's the effort that counts.
Number Two is, despite his looks, definitely not a coward. He'll die without a second thought for his crew if need be. Of course otherwise, he'd attempt to devise some sort of plan and then die for his crew.
Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: He is a decent swordsman and really good at disguise (course “really good” is rather subjective). Since it takes place from after the movie, he’s gotten a little better at plundering. For being a pirate he is rather kind and actually sane towards most people, yet at the same time he’s definitely not cowardly. He is also extremely loyal to his friends but will be the first to notice if they did something wrong and call them out for it.
Weaknesses: Despite him being very kind for a pirate, he is still a pirate. He has very little qualms about killing someone as long as he feels deserves it and plundering. And while he’s gotten better at general plundering he still kinda stucks at being a pirate, for example in “The Pirate Captain’s Chat Show” he has a lot of trouble digging up buried treasure, although in his defense the ground could withstand a cannon ball.
Also, in case anyone was curious, don’t even bother trying to reform him, it’s like trying to force a bird not to fly.
History: Not too much is known about the pirate with a scarf’s past besides that he had been a pirate for a long time, and while he wasn’t part of the most successful crew in the world, he wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. And that one run in with a giant squid.
However one day the Pirate Captain decided that once again he’d try out for the Pirate of the Year, figuring that he’d have a great chance of winning this year. While signing up they realized that they had zero chance of winning they decided that they would skip this year. Until one of the pirates competing for the Pirate of the Year found out that they were considering to sign up for it and got everyone in the bar they were in to laugh at them. This angered the Pirate Captain so much that he changed his mind again about signing up and immediately set sail again to plunder the boats they came across.
Needless to say, they didn’t do very well. The Pirate Captain called the pirate with a scarf to his quarters to announce that he’s considering on giving up on pirating and instead going into the baby clothes making business. The pirate with a scarf immediately took it upon himself to remind him about what being a pirate really means: having fun. The speech got the Pirate Captain’s spirit back up and they went to plunder yet another ship. Which turned out to be the ship of a young Charles Darwin.
The Pirate Captain was annoyed by the fact that there was no gold on a science ship forced Darwin to walk the plank. Just as he was about to fall into the water he panically told them that their parrot named “Polly” that they had was actually a Dodo - long thought to be extinct. After they pulled him out of the water, he asked the Pirate Captain and the pirate with a scarf if he could take Polly to the annual science fair in London to show off for a chance to win “untold riches”. The pirate with a scarf was wary of the man, and for good reason as not only would they be giving their pet to a strange man, but Queen Victoria, queen of London at the time, absolutely hated pirates and banned them from entering London. The Pirate Captain reassured him that he has a plan; which was pretty much “Go to the science fair, take the money, and win the Pirate of the Year award”.
When they got to London and learned that, yes, pirates were indeed not allowed in London they disguise themselves as Girl Scouts (or Girl Guides) and went to Charles’s house to prepare for the next day where they’ll be presenting the bird. Soon after the pirate with a scarf found out that Charles Darwin along with his Man-panzee Mr. Bobo were planning on stealing Polly. He went to the Pirate Captain’s room to warn him, but he wasn’t convinced that Darwin was planning anything sinister. So instead after the Pirate Captain fell asleep he unsheathed his sword and prepared for any attack that was coming.
Later that night after he ended up falling asleep someone (Mr Bobo in a cape and wearing glasses) broke in and stole Polly. The pirate with a scarf immediately went off after the bird thief. He almost succeeded, but then there was that whole incident with a bathtub and sliding around the whole mansion. Thankfully the bathtub ended up landing on the thief and the pirate with a scarf almost proved that Charles Darwin and Mr. Bobo were up to something. but when he picked up the cape, there was no occupant.
The next day the crew disguised themselves as scientists and went to show off the Dodo to all the scientists, and actually ended up winning! Too bad the “untold riches” ended up being a small trophy, a full set of encyclopedias, and being in the room at the same time as Queen Victoria
Needless to say, she found out that they were pirates and was just about to kill them but she changed her mind and actually pardoned the pirates. They tried to leave soon after but Darwin insisted that the Pirate Captain could come celebrate his achievement. While he promised he would back in a half hour, it took him hours to come back, with gold and Polly nowhere in sight.
The pirate with a scarf was immediately suspicious, but they went to the Pirate of the Year Awards. The Pirate Captain actually won! But just as he was about to accept the award one of the pirates called him out and showed the whole crowed that he was pardoned by the Queen. Which as it turns out makes you no longer a pirate. Just as they were about to leave, the Pirate Captain confessed that he sold Polly for a ton of gold. The rest of the crew was appalled that the Pirate Captain would do such a thing, including the pirate with a scarf. So they left without him and the pirate with a scarf took over as captain.
About say a week of sailing Mr. Bobo comes on the ship to tell them about how Queen Victoria plans on eating Polly as a part of a endangered animal cruise program and that the Pirate Captain is taking on her alone. They immediately set into action to help their Captain rescue Polly.
After a battle that ended with the ship being sunk with baking soda and vinegar and the Pirate Captain almost getting himself killed multiple times, not only did they get Polly back, but they got themselves unpardoned by Queen Victoria. So now the Pirate Captain has the biggest bounty ever and they suck a little less at pirating now.
